Company History:
Simmons Law Enforcement, Inc. was established in 2000 for the express purpose of overhauling and refinishing weapons for law enforcement organizations. In 2004 Jeff Perry purchased the business and expanded into providing military and law enforcement equipment.
Cory Weeda assisted with strategic planning for Simmons Law Enforcement, Inc. in 2006 and became part owner in 2007. Mr. Perry currently serves as President and CEO while Mr. Weeda serves as Vice-President, COO and Treasurer.
Simmons Law Enforcement, Inc. has expanded its product and service portfolio over the years and can now supply almost any type of military and law enforcement equipment to meet customer needs.
Owner Strengths and Core Competencies:
Mr. Perry has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and fifteen years of law enforcement experience with Independence Police Department, of which ten have been in a tactical role on the Special Response Team (also referred to as SWAT). He also served as a member of the Metro Disaster Tactical Response Team (MDTRT), from 2004-2009. MDTRT is a multi-agency tactical response unit that serves the entire Kansas City metro area. It is made up of 150+ tactical operators from both Missouri and Kansas. MDTRT operators are trained in the tactical response to terrorist attacks, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives incidents. Mr. Perry is a weapons platform expert and is a certified armorer on several weapon systems. In addition, he served as a firearms instructor responsible for training both Patrol and Special Response Team officers on the safety and use of handguns, shotguns, rifles and less lethal munitions. Mr. Perry transitioned from a full time to reserve capacity in 2006 and was the first reserve officer to remain on the Special Response Team in the department's history. He served as the department tactical product specialist and firearms instructor in a reserve capacity from 2009-2011.
Through these experiences, Mr. Perry has acquired vast industry knowledge and extensive contacts. His familiarity as an operator also translates to credibility when talking to customers and a passion to only offer reliable, battle tested products.
Mr. Weeda has a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Accounting and minor in Aviation, Master's in Business Administration, and twelve years of business experience with Sprint (a telecommunications company). During his tenure with Sprint he served in various capacities including Supervisor and high level Project Manager roles gaining experience in managing complex projects and visibility into almost every faucet of the Fortune 500 Company including Finance, Billing, Customer Care, Information Technology, Marketing and Network.
Technical skills from Mr. Weeda's background are incorporated into Simmons Law Enforcement, Inc. by understanding how businesses function, keeping accurate accounting records, managing company finances, establishing relevant goals and implementing reporting for accountability against goals. His soft skills acquired through Sprint are also utilized when dealing with customers, vendors and other business partners.
Mr. Weeda has also been familiar with the law enforcement industry for many years. His father has been with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for over 30 years and his mother worked for the FBI for almost 20 years. Since 2007 Mr. Weeda has gained significant industry knowledge and technical training to help facilitate law enforcement agencies in procuring the best possible equipment to succeed given their specific mission profile.
Mr. Perry and Mr. Weeda have a united vision for the company and bring together a unique balance of skills necessary to effectively meet customer needs.
