Overview
ReconRobotics is the world leader in tactical, micro-robotic systems. Worldwide, more than 1,200 of the company's robots have been deployed by the U.S. military and international friendly forces, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, bomb squads and fire/rescue teams. Each day they use the company's mobile Recon Scout® Throwbot® devices to protect their personnel, minimize collateral damage, and gain immediate reconnaissance within dangerous and hostile environments.
The company was formed in 2006 to commercialize robotics technology developed at the University of Minnesota Distributed Robotics Laboratory under funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Science Foundation, among others. Today ReconRobotics markets its products through a distribution network in more than 30 countries. Among the users of Recon Scout robots are the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps, as well as many Federal agencies, including the U.S. Marshals, DEA, Border Patrol, FBI and ATFE. In addition, nearly 175 municipal law enforcement agencies throughout the world rely on Recon Scout Throwbot® systems to protect their SWAT and tactical personnel during high-risk operations.

Scout IR
The Recon Scout® IR is the world's first throwable, mobile reconnaissance robot with the capability of seeing in complete darkness. As with the standard Recon Scout that was introduced in 2007, the Recon Scout IR saves lives by allowing military and police to gain inside knowledge about dangerous and hostile environments before sending in their personnel.
Simply throw the Recon Scout IR through a window or doorway, and use the handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU) to move the robot through a dark environment. The infrared optical systems on the robot automatically turn on when the ambient light is low, and immediately begin transmitting clear real-time video to the OCU video screen or a nearby command post.
This Know Before You Go® capability saves lives, helps resolve dangerous situations more quickly, and greatly limits damage to property. Before you send your team into the darkness, give them a big advantage - send in the Recon Scout IR.

Scout XT
The Recon Scout XT enables you to conduct video reconnaissance in cluttered indoor environments as well as in outdoor landscapes of dirt, sand and rocks. Equipped with large motors, powerful drive trains and aggressive wheels, the Recon Scout XT gives you the speed, power and maneuverability you need to gain mission-critical reconnaissance across a variety of terrain. Like the Recon Scout IR, the Recon Scout XT is equipped with an infrared optical system that automatically turns on when the ambient light is low, giving your team a big advantage in the darkest of environments.
The Recon Scout XT is just eight inches long and weighs just 1.3 pounds, making it extremely easy to carry and throw. It may be specified in any of three frequencies, allowing you to operate up to three robots in the same environment at the same time. It may also be added to any existing Recon Scout IR kit on a robot-only basis.

Scout Search Stick
The Recon Scout® SeachStick™ device enables tactical and patrol personnel to instantly convert any Recon Scout robot into a versatile pole camera. Simply grasp the Recon Scout robot in the powered jaws of the pole and extend the pole to the necessary length. The robot then transmits live video of the environment to the operator control unit (OCU). In addition, the SearchStick allows an operator to quietly deploy the robot into an elevated or confined environment while maintaining a safe standoff distance, and later retrieve it when the reconnaissance has been completed.
The SearchStick pole has a collapsed length of 20.5" (52cm) and can be extended to a length of 72" (183cm). It allows tactical operators to maintain standoff distance when clearing elevated/confined spaces, including walled compounds, elevated windows, stairwells, attics, ventilation ducts, crawl spaces, tunnels and vehicle undercarriages.

Operator Control Unit
The Recon Scout Operator Control Unit (OCU) is a rugged hand-held device used to control the movement of the Recon Scout and to receive live, high-quality video from the Recon Scout as it moves through an environment. The OCU is small and light weight, and can be operated with just one hand. Total set-up time takes less than 20 seconds: simply attach the two antennas and turn on the OCU. Movement of the Recon Scout is controlled by a simple thumb-operated joystick in the center of the OCU.

Command Monitoring Station
The Recon Scout Command Monitoring Station (CMS) enables your command post to monitor video transmissions from any Recon Scout reconnaissance robot, which can be operating up to 1,000 feet away. By using the CMS you can see precisely what your front line personnel see on their handheld Operator Control Units as they direct the movement of their robots. This real-time video lets you direct tactical and search-and-rescue operations, and provide an integrated response to any situation.
The CMS also allows you to switch from one robot frequency (channel A, B or C) to the next so you can monitor video transmissions from up to three robots. Software included with the CMS also allows you to use a computer running Windows XP - or Vista - to record up to two hours of video, and to capture and store still images as required. You can also use a standard RCA cable to display the video feed on any television or monitor. Also included are power cables that enable you to run the CMS from a standard power outlet or a 12VDC source.
